How to Record Video on Mac (MacBook Pro) for Free

Part 1. How to Record Video on Mac Using iTube Studio

Evey time when you intend to keep the videos with recording them in your Mac, you may have tried to use some difficult operational softwares to achieve what you want before, now the iTube Studio for Mac (or iTube Studio for Windows) will help you record the video in your Mac with just one-click. With some other strong functions, iTube Studio must be a satisfactory software to easy your life.

Step 1

First, download and install iTube Studio for Mac. When you install it, you just need to drag the installation file to Applications and wait a few seconds. After the installation, please launch the software.

Open the video you want to record in your Mac, then login the main interface of iTube Studio. Click the "Record Video" button, and you will open the recording window.

If you’re familiar with the latest gadgets and tech trends and you’ve been using your Mac for some time, then you’ve probably already heard of QuickTime Player. Amongst many of its other uses, this program allows you do to high-quality screen recordings. This reliable, completely free application is easy to navigate and is a surefire and simple way to create unique content. Although it doesn’t offer a varied set of editing tools, it’s perfect for basic tasks and high-performance recordings. So how do you actually record videos from a webcam on your MacBook using QuickTime Player?

Step 1

First thing you have to do is open QuickTime Player from your Applications folder, as seen below:

Next, look for “File Menu” and click “New Movie Recording”.

If you only want to record audio, then click on “File” and choose “New Audio Recording”, as seen bellow:

The QuickTime Screen Recording window will open. In order to start your video, click on the Record button. This will automatically use your built-in microphone to register any audio activity. If you want to select a specific audio input, then click the downward arrow and choose your audio file.

Next, click the “Record” button to begin recording your video. This will activate your built-in camera.

Finally, choose the “Stop recording” option to end recording:

Remember, if your Mac doesn’t include a webcam, you can always try connecting a USB camera or a FireWire. A lot of the camera models recognized by iMovie are also recognized by QuickTime Player. If the application doesn’t see your camera, make sure to check that it’s connected to your MacBook and that it’s turned on.

But how do you get about recording live videos directly into iMovie?

In order to record using iMovie, you can use an external iSight camera. However, you can also record videos directly into iMovie by using your FaceTime HD camera (or any other built-in camera). Here are the steps to follow in order to create your recording.

Step 1

First, you have to launch iMovie by clicking on its icon in the Applications folder.

To record using the built-in camera, click the “Import” button in the toolbar

Look for the “Camera” section in the Import window sidebar and select the camera you want to import from. A live video image from the camera will appear in the Import window.

Next, you will have to choose between a few Event options. If you want an already existing event to contain your new video, then look for the “Import to” pop-up menu at the top of the Import window and choose an event from there.

Step 4

To create a new event, click on “File” and choose “New Event” from the menu, as seen bellow.

Next, click on the “Record” button to begin recording

Finally, select the “Record” option to end recording. When you are done, click “Close”. If you’re using a FaceTime camera, select the “Camera” button, as seen bellow:

Then, look for the “Cameras” section and select “FaceTime Camera”.

Next, choose between 2 options: “Add to existing Event” or “Create new Event”, as seen bellow.

Next, select “Capture” to begin recording. Finally, click “Done” to end recording:
